Plumbing Boot Upgrade Project
This roof repair in Suwanee, GA restored critical protection to the home using GAF Timberline HD shingles in Weathered Wood. The project addressed damaged shingles, aging plumbing boots, and vulnerable roof penetrations to improve weather resistance and prevent future leaks.
Project Overview
Following storm exposure and routine wear, the homeowner noticed concerns around roof penetrations and shingle integrity. An inspection confirmed the need for targeted roof repairs, including shingle replacement, plumbing boot upgrades, underlayment reinforcement, and reconditioning of an HVAC vent. Minor decking repairs were also identified and completed where necessary to ensure a solid substrate for proper installation.
Results
The completed repairs restored dependable protection and improved the overall sealing of critical roof penetrations. New GAF Timberline HD shingles were installed to match the existing roof, while WeatherWatch underlayment was added for enhanced leak protection. All four plumbing boots were replaced with PVC boots and rain collars, and the associated pipes were painted black for a clean, finished appearance. The HVAC vent was reconditioned and sealed at the boot cone base, and fasteners and sealants were applied throughout to ensure a secure, watertight installation. With repairs completed to manufacturer standards, the roof is now better protected against future weather exposure.
