Architectural Roof & Modified Roofing Upgrade
This roof replacement in Snellville, GA restored full protection to the home using GAF Timberline HDZ architectural shingles in Slate. The project improved weather resistance, addressed existing leak concerns, and provided the homeowner with a durable, professionally installed roofing system designed for long-term performance.
Project Overview
Following storm exposure and age-related wear, the homeowner experienced declining roof performance, including compromised shingles, deteriorated flashing, and areas of wood rot along fascia and soffit sections. An inspection confirmed the need for a full roof replacement, upgraded leak protection, and targeted carpentry repairs. In addition, a low-slope rear porch area required a modified bitumen roofing system to ensure proper waterproofing and drainage. The existing roof system no longer provided dependable protection against Snellville’s frequent rain and severe weather, making a comprehensive solution necessary.
Results
The completed roofing system delivered immediate improvements in protection, durability, and overall functionality. GAF Timberline HDZ architectural shingles in Slate were installed to provide enhanced wind resistance and long-term performance. Leak barriers were added at valleys, penetrations, chimneys, and other vulnerable areas, while new step flashing, counter flashing, and pipe boots ensured proper water shedding throughout the roof system.
The rear porch received a torch-applied modified bitumen roofing system installed over existing decking, providing a seamless and watertight low-slope solution. Ventilation was improved with the installation of a full ridge vent system, supporting balanced airflow across the roof. Carpentry repairs addressed damaged fascia, rake trim, soffit, and bird boxes using durable replacement materials, followed by sealing and painting for a clean, finished appearance. With installation completed to manufacturer standards, the homeowner now has a secure, weather-resistant roofing system built to perform through future storms.
