Shakewood Roof Repair & Leak Protection
This roof repair project in Brookhaven, GA restored critical protection to the home using GAF Timberline shingles in Shakewood. The work addressed localized damage, improved leak resistance, and reinforced vulnerable roof areas to ensure continued performance in Atlanta’s storm-prone climate.
Project Overview
Following storm exposure and ongoing wear, the homeowner identified signs of roof deterioration in a limited section of the roofing system, including compromised shingles, deteriorated decking, and vulnerable flashing areas. An inspection confirmed the need for targeted roof repairs rather than a full replacement. The affected areas required new shingles, reinforced leak protection, and structural decking repairs to prevent continued water intrusion and protect the home’s interior.
Results
The completed repairs restored watertight integrity to the affected roof sections. GAF Timberline shingles in Shakewood were installed to blend seamlessly with the existing roof while providing durable, weather-resistant coverage. StormGuard ice and water shield was applied to reinforce leak-prone areas, and new step flashing was installed to improve water diversion at critical transitions.
Damaged decking was removed and replaced with new 1/2" plywood, supported with additional 2x4 framing as needed. Roofing sealant was applied to ensure proper sealing around penetrations and flashing components, completing the repair with a secure, long-lasting finish. With the repairs completed, the homeowner now has reinforced protection in previously vulnerable areas, reducing the risk of future leaks.
